Springing in to Senior Year
September 27, 2017
Senior year is now in full swing for North High Schools class of 2018. Seniors reminisce about their time here at North and look to their nearing futures.
Josie Borchert, a senior at North, is applying to St. Mary’s University, U of W, Winona State University, with plans to “get a masters in Psychology with a focus in marriage and family therapy.”
While senior year is filled with the stress of deciding whether or not to continue education, applying to dream colleges, or joining the work force, senior year is also a time of freedom without real responsibility and making lifelong memories. North High senior, Grace Stolte is “excited for new adventures and being the top of the school.”
Highlights of senior year consist of spirit week, the homecoming game, prom, and graduation day. Josie says she is “excited for senior prom with all of my friends.”
With their futures so near, seniors reflect on how their experiences at North has helped shape their lives. Josie says that “show choir has made the most impact in my life because I met a lot of friends there and it gave me an opportunity to grow in my hobbies like singing, writing, and dancing.”
Grace plans to major in English and then go into law school. She says “the debate program has made a huge impact on my life and truly made me set on wanting to become a lawyer.”
Another North senior, Teddy Drake, has been very involved in North’s DECA program over during his time here at North. His experiences with this program have played a large role his decision to study business of film after high school. While Teddy has loved being apart of DECA, he is excited to move onto college and learn more about his filed of interest.
When asked if they had any advice for current and future students at North, Grace said, “challenge yourself by taking AP and CIS classes, but never slack on your homework.” Teddy advises, “to not be that annoying kid that stops in the middle of the hall,” something everyone around you will appreciate.
North has had a lasting impression on these seniors, whether it was a dedicated teacher, “playing kahoot (Grace),” life-long friends, or “always remembering the stalls with no locks (Teddy),” North High will always be remembered as home.
