North high AVID students

North High School is home to the AVID program, an academic program that helps students prepare for college. In this  program students get  a hands-on experience on how college is like.

 

Students  in AVID are able  to go on trips  to  college  tours, get help  with the ACTs and apply for  scholarships.

 

When Zaria Hinkle, a twelfth grade AVID student, who has been in AVID  for  six  years    about how AVID has impacted her school life she gave the following response

“AVID has impacted me, by helping me become more organized  and AVID as also helped me become more focused on my  goals.” When Jebeh cooke who is also a twelfth grade AVID student who has been in AVID was asked  if  AVID was a good program to help with preparing for college she said the following“AVID  is good for preparing for college because  it helps with preparing for the ACTs”

 

AVID gives students the skills they need in order to succeed in college and the basic skills students need to prepare for life  after college.

“ I love going on the AVID field trips, because I like to meet  new  people,  that  are also college students and having a feel on what college  is going to be like.” Was Zaria Hinkle’s response when asked  if AVID was a  good college readiness program. “It  is very goal oriented’ Jebeh Cooke says  when asked about her honest opinion on the AVID program.

 

AVID gives students a head start on what college life and what the real world is going to  be like. It also gives  students, some of the basic  skills people need  to survive  the  fundamentals  of life.
