United in Music
November 22, 2017
On Saturday November 18th, Tartan and North choirs joined together for their annual Masterworks concert. For this concert, first Tartan sang a piece from their upcoming winter concert. Next, North’s Concert Chorale sang His Light In Us, which will also be performed at the winter concert and Large Group Concert. Then, both school’s choirs join onstage to sing Vivaldi’s Gloria, a roughly 25 minute mass.
Gloria, which is written in Latin, was originally intended for an all girls school but has since been adapted for a four part choir. Throughout the work, solos and small group ensembles will perform sections throughout the performance along with the volunteer orchestra.
After the last section of Gloria, has been sung, both North, Tartan, and the orchestra join together for one last song, The Hallelujah Chorus. North choir member, Josie Borchert says, “Masterworks is a great opportunity to for our schools to join together since we are always competing against one another. We can come together through music.”
