New North football head coach
In the middle of January, One man was offered a job, a job that can change a high school football team around. This is one man is Gene Teigland. He’s the new North High school head football coach. Coach Teigland chose this job because he knows this team has a lot of potential to be great. He was offered a job by the North High sports administrat
Coach Teigland has many reasons why he chose to become the new face of the football team of North High. I got the chance to interview what coach Teigland had to tell the polar nation. I asked him why he chose North High School? He responded, “I was impressed with the leadership of the school and the direction they wanted to go with the football program. Also the staff I met was welcoming and I really believed there’s opportunities here to be successful program on and off the field. I think there is a lot of talent at North and a culture present that fits my football philosophies.” It seems like he’s really excited to bring our football team to the top of our rivals.
There were other schools who wanted coach Teigland to be their new coach but he already decided to come to North and he’s why, “I was in a final round of interviews with another job and another school reached out after I took the job at North but North ended up being my first choice because I was so Impressed with the processes.” coach Teigland was already chossening to go to North. Aren’t we happy that he chose us?
North High School for the past two years haven’t really had a great winning record. North parted ways with the last coach and it was heartbreaking for the players to bare but it was for the best for the program. Coach teigland believes he can turn it around and bring the polar football team back on top of its rivals. Here’s what coach Teigland had to say about that “I think number 1 is energy. You have to practice and play football with joy and enthusiasm. Schematically we will throw the ball and stretch defenses. On defense we will cause confusion for the other teams offense and create turnovers. Our special team will be well prepared and exciting to watch. More importantly I think we will bring consistency from the practice field onto the game field and guys will want to play for one another. That I believe will translate to more wins.
Coach Teigland wasn’t the only coach who was brought to the polar football team. Coach Teigland brought many new and old coaches from other schools/colleges and from his old team. The reason why coach Teigland chose these particular staffs is, “From the prior staff I brought with me our running back and JV Offensive coordinator, Chuck Stahblberg. We are putting in a new offense and he understands what we like to do and how to execute. While we are still adding more staff currently we’ve added 2 college coaches from UWRF, Trevor Tolly (Defensive Coordinator), Cory Clark (Defensive Line, Special Teams Coordinator), also I bought the former St. Paul Harding head coach Michael Houston, who will work with the secondary. On offense, Walk Whitaker will be our varsity wide receivers coach. I’ve always been around great staffs and this one will be no different. We want coaches who will bring energy, knowledge of the game, and build honest and motivational relationships with players. I truly believe this will be a great staff of coaches.” This shows that he’s ready for what’s coming and ready to win games with the polar football team. Who isn’t excited for the polar football?
