“It is a form of self-expression. I can create different looks and try new things just for fun or be creative! I also like that so many people have different ways of doing it, so you can always be learning. I like to wear it and feel more confident because I choose how I want to look that day. I can do different looks for different occasions.” Makeup is only one of Jacqueline Kent-Morrison’s many passions. Every aspect of self-care has had an impact on her life whether it is stress relief through the use of ASMR or dyeing her hair in a rainbow of colors. Jacqueline reveals, “I first dyed my hair blonde when I was eleven, but I started to dye my hair unnatural colors the summer before ninth grade. Pink was my first unnatural color. I think it will always be special to me. I just loved having pastel pink hair.”

Some of Jacqueline’s passions are Graphic Design and educating herself about cultures of the world. In fact, “I hope to double major in Graphic design and a language. I love editing and working with computers. There are always new things to learn and it’s a way to be creative. I also want to major in a language so I can travel and have more opportunities in the future. I want to move around a lot and see the world. Having another language under my belt will help to make that dream a reality.” Her hopes for the future include being “super happy” and “living happily overall.”

Speaking of worldly cultures, Jacqueline traveled to Thailand “for three and a half weeks of July of 2017.” She confesses, “It really opened up my view of the world, seeing people on the other side of the globe and how they live day to day. Some things that seem so basic to us are just not there and some things we find normal isn’t there. I really learned how relative normality is to people. I loved learning the language and seeing people come together despite some language and cultural barriers. I now believe that language and culture can’t stop people from connecting. I also saw my impact on the locals. There were kids and even adults who were so happy and excited for me to be there and to share their culture with me. It really made me love Thai culture and the people even more.”
