The President’s Perspective and What to Expect From 2018 Homecoming
September 21, 2018
Homecoming is arguably the most exciting week of the school year, full of activities from the pep fests to the dances. The Presidents of Student Council, Julia Schleicher and Haley Hogan take on Homecoming this year with some exciting plans. With the school’s eyes on Student Council in hopes of a great week Madam President Schleicher says “Honestly I’m a little nervous to put on such a big event, but we are in very good shape.” Even though there is nervousness when planning this event the pay off that comes is much greater “It’s all worth it,” Madam President Hogan exclaimed “Everyone should experience pride in their school.”
The job of the Presidents is to delegate tasks evenly to all the members of Student Council. The different tasks delegated include after school activities, coronation, pep fest, technical and orientation. These events all together create a great homecoming week.
Some of the exciting activities that will take place include powder puff which is a female football game. “It was so much fun last year and we only plan to improve” Madam President Schleicher says. If you wish to sign up and make a team with your friends the sign ups are outside of Ms. Cleggs room in the art hallway.
Pep fest is also to be rumored to be very exciting. With the royalty being involved in a variety of games it’s bound to be a great time. The royalty will also be voted on the Friday before and announced the Friday of Homecoming. Senior royalty nominee Mason Wold seems to be especially pumped, “I’m a senior and I’m super excited to do all the dress up days and all the activities that go along with HOCO.”
In order to optimize your homecoming experience it is suggested to dress full out in all the dress up days and to be involved in all of the reading time activities. Madam president Hogan says “This is not your average homecoming…Participate!”
Homecoming activities are as follows:
