Optimist Club!
October 3, 2018
This year at North High School student Aishat Adedayo wanted to make a change at our school by creating a Optimist Club! She says being optimist isn’t just all jolly, it is wanting to create a change! This is said because this year we want to give out lots of new opportunities such as essay entrees for collage and university. The team also wants to bring back our school Hmong New Year and along with the Culture Festival. These are only some thoughts but if the group can pull it off they plan on bringing it back the following years. Something during the winter in December the group wants to go hang out and help out at the senior homes, they also want to thank the bus drivers and lunch ladies in some sort of way.
After talking to President Aishat, she was a very organized student. She has big plans and will be able to make her plans go. She says this because she has approval from admin and has students that are by her side willing to help her.
This year I as a student am very excited to be in good back our school Hmong new year. The last time we even had one was about 2 and 1/2 years ago! It amazes me how North stopped this celebratation when our school has so many Hmong students. As a sneak peak if we do get approval of the new year this year it would be in January. I say this because the last one was in January, also so we don’t interfer with other school new years. My biggest hope is to have all students at North be celebrated about their own special ideneideand ethnicity. North is called a diverse school and if so then all cultures should be celebrated at our school.
