Recently I sat down with senior Hayley Pederson to discuss her involvement in the North High SPED Department. Hayley says “The SPED Department provides resources to fit child’s needs at school.” This being physical, learning or emotional needs.

Hayley works in the multiple needs rooms. Depending on the day she’ll either work one on one with students or in groups on social skills.  “It usually involves playing a game, a puzzle or any activity.” Hayley says.

When asked why this job is so important Hayley says “I think students with special needs are typically forgotten in our student body. Stepping up to show that students are known by other students and acknowledged goes a long way.”
