Safi is an Ethiopian American woman who opened a homecare business in Minneapolis, M.N in 2021. It has always been her dream to start a business, and she was able to do it with the support of her family.
Alliance Home Healthcare is a family business ran by three women, Safi being the manager. They give services to the elderly, helping them with everything they need. That consists of looking after their physical health, mental health and emotional health. Their goal is being able to give their residents a more fulfilling and rewarding life.
According to Safi, they chose the name Alliance because it means coming together, and the three woman came together to run a healthcare business. “We were tired of working for other people, we wanted to become our own boss.” Safi said. Ever since she was a child, Safi has always wanted to pursue a career in business. “I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur even when I was younger in Ethiopia.” As a child in Ethiopia, Safi used to buy and sell items in the market, her passion never changed even as an adult.
Safi has more goals she wants to accomplish in the future. “I want to open at least 10 more locations in the future,” Safi said. “I want to extend my service for more people who need care.” Safi also wants to open a homecare for Muslim women who want to focus on their religion, but have a difficult time because of possible disabilities. “Religion is very import to older Muslim women, so I want them to feel comfortable practicing their religion in a space that helps them keep a connection with God.” Safi continues to work hard and achieve her goals, thriving to grow her business for the better.
