North High ends its first trimester next week. Finals days will be Monday, Nov 25 and Tuesday, Nov 26. This year, North is moving away from block scheduled finals, where one days is just first, third, and fifth period and the next second, fourth, and sixth. Starting this trimester, finals days will run on the normal bell schedule, and students will attend all of their classes both days.

Some students expressed concern about the change, worrying that they would have to take back-to-back finals – but  no worries! Teachers have been instructed to give finals only for periods 1, 3, and 5 on Monday, and finals for periods 2, and 6 on Tuesday. Students will still attend period 2, 4 and 6 on Monday, and periods 1, 3, and 5 on Tuesday, but those teachers will not be assigning new work.

Teachers have reacted mostly positively to the change, explaining that if the bus schedule prevents school from being dismissed early on finals days, then it does make more sense to run the normal schedule. Students will not be given the additional study time during Advisory on finals days, which again was a relief to many teachers and students. Just make sure to study ahead of time!
