The North Saint Paul high school boys basketball team did pretty good last 2016-17 season. The boys ended the season with a 17-9 record. Yao Dumenya is a senior here at North this 2017-18 school year who started on junior varsity last season, He says his goal for his last year playing at the high school level is to improve his ball handling skills and to help get him and his fellow team mates to state for their last year. Yao states that his strengths are shooting and using his strength and muscles to stop defenders. Yao knows he needs to work on defending small, swiftly, fast players who use their smaller height to get past the bigger players. he looks forward to his last season here at north. Tytist Dean is also a senior here at north saint Paul. He was a late comer starting on January 6th just three months after the season started even though he cannot play varsity until January 6Th of his last season he still didn’t come in worried. Tytist came in scoring an average 17 points per game and not being afraid to show off his handles. Tytist ended the season helping the Junior varsity take home many wins. Tytist strengths are defense and most definitely his handles, leaving a lot of people face down on the court wondering what happened before laying it up. this 2017-18 season the North saint Paul boys got a new coach Damian Johnson former gopher D1 basketball player. Tytist explains how this new coach is good for the team, keeping them working almost 24/7 on shooting, conditioning, defense, offense, driving and so much more. He believes this new coach could possibly take them to state with little to no worries, Tytist believes in his team mates like family. He knows this next season is gonna be good and show everyone that family isnt just in the blood.
