Starting at a new school is scary, everyone’s been there. You know no one and it’s a completely different environment. Now imagine going to a new school, where you know barely anyone and speak a different language.

Ari Mortell is an exchange student at North, she says ” I was afraid about starting school because I didn’t know anybody, apart from my host sister.” Ari has no trouble finding friends now!

“It’s Exactly like the movies!” Ari says frequently. This highschool is a lot bigger than hers and we have a lunch break. In Spain Ari doesn’t have lunch, in other words she’s still getting used to the meal schedule here in America.

The hardest part being here is just in the beginning when you know no one but your host family. Other than that Ari loves high school in America! ” The best part is the strong spirit you have, for the activities related to high school.. and also how funny the teachers are.”

Ari has made an impact on so many students at North, including me. She loves the football games at North and is excited for Homecoming and hockey season!!
