Emma Palm, a junior at North High, is prepping to be a hockey manager for her second year in a row! This year and last, Palm’s responsibilities as a manager have included cleaning the jerseys and filling water bottles during games. New this year however, the managers are responsible for stats and recording the games, which Palm is really looking forward to in order to give the boys a chance to see how they can better themselves. Palm originally took on the task as a fun thing to do with her friends and thought it was a good way to give back to the school. She had an amazing time doing it last year and is super eager to do it again! “My favorite part about being a manager is being responsible for something. It makes me feel good knowing I can give back to the school by helping the boys’ hockey team with little things like water and cleaning jerseys,” she says. Not only does Palm love that she’s earned a letter by being a manager, she also really enjoys the fact that she gets to see a different perspective of a sports team. “It’s opened my eyes to sports behind the scenes, because all the fans see are the games. I think it’s cool to know that we get to see practices and see how they prepare for the games and do behind the scenes things that nobody ever really thinks about.”
