After a energetic pepfest on Friday, Sept.22, students and staff made their way to the track field for the first Polar Palooza Event. Due to the efforts of the National Honor Society, Black Student Union, and Student Council, North celebrated homecoming with a variety of games, events, and food.
The main attraction was the dunk tank, as staff and students alike lined up to take a throw at whoever was in the hot seat. Mr. Sturm got us started and managed to avoid all but one dunk attempt. Ms. Sass was not so lucky, and was dropped into the freezing water a few times. Thanks to all the teachers who volunteered, and a special thanks to Mr. Reynolds and Mr. Wolff for their participation!
The BSU ran concessions, with Mr. Drummond slinging burgers and hot dogs on the grill. The food was delicious, and the student workers did an amazing job. Cotton candy and popcorn on the menu added to the carnival vibe, and it was fun to see everyone walking around with big bags of colorful sugar.
Other carnival games, a live DJ, and face painting added to the fun atmosphere, and students wandered from booth to booth enjoying the event.
Polar Palooza was a huge success, and should become an annual North tradition!
