Taylor Swift in her element

On August 31st, 2018 Taylor Swift played her first of two nights at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. To start off her set, a video interlude took to the stage. In the video were clips of media bashing Swift for past actions and feuds. Swift then hit the stage with her platinum hit “…Ready For It.” sending fans into a show they would not forget soon.

Previous to the show starting, staff handed out bracelets to everyone in the stadium. Nobody knew what these were for until Swift began her show. The bracelets all lit up with different colors as the show prolonged with the music. It was something pretty amazing and nothing I’ve ever seen before at a show. Swift went on to sing a medley of her mega hits “Style”, “Love Story”, and “You Belong With Me.” For one of her newer hits, “Look What You Made Me Do” a giant inflatable snake hit the stage as Swift was performing. This is because the song is a strong comeback to July of 2016 when reality TV star Kim Kardashian took to social media to call Swift a snake. This led to floods of snake emoji comments and bullying on her Instagram and Twitter accounts. The song also addresses her feud with pop star Katy Perry which has recently been put to rest.

Thousands of fans pack in for Swift

August 31st was made Taylor Swift Day in Minnesota. Swift could barely believe it as she told the audience earlier that day she was googling it to see if it was really true, and it was. She told the crowd that she has performed over 20 times in Minnesota because Swift and her crew love it here.

For the song “Delicate”, Swift flew to a B stage as she sang the song over the crowd of people on the floor. As she made it to the B stage, she sang her smash it, “Shake It Off” with her opening performers, Camila Cabello and Charli XCX. She commented earlier in the night how much she loves the women she decided to bring on tour, and it showed when they all performed on stage together. Swift then sang two acoustic songs with her guitar. She told everyone about how country still has and always will have a place in her heart although she’s ventured to pop music. Swift then ran through the crowd after these performances, reaching out her hands to fans and greeting them. As she flys back to the main stage she sings her hit, “Blank Space.”

As Swift got back to the main stage she sang her hit “Bad Blood” while energetically running around a large contraption that had elevated from the stage. Things went to a more mellow approach when she took a seat at her piano. Before beginning, she thanked everyone for the love she has been given in the duration of her career. She specifically wanted to thank those that have stuck with her and hadn’t liked her only as a phase. The show had included many impressive elements that I had not been expecting. Swift made it very clear that she is bigger and bolder than ever, and is not going anywhere anytime soon.
