Dreadwood haunted forest is an attraction in the middle of the woods scaring many people every year. It’s located in Hudson, Wisconsin and all of the actors are volunteers. North High’s National Honor Society students were given the chance to work as actors in the attraction. I talked to three of the actors from North High.

Nada Mohamed (right) with friend, Nora Morelli (left).

The first person I talked to about Dreadwood is Nada Mohamed. She was a zombie that was in the abandoned jailhouse. Her favorite part about scaring was “the makeup, outfits and being able to scare people with my friends.” Her least favorite part would be “how cold it was outside and how some people didn’t want to participate.” Mohamed would do it again next year stating “it was really fun and a great way to get closer with people you weren’t close with before.” To scare people, Mohamed would roll her eyes back and scream at the people, and if all else failed she would simply chase them. She has volunteered once at Dreadwood, but you may be able to catch her once more before the month is over.

Anthony Her scaring guests.

The second person I had interviewed was Anthony Her. Her’s role was based on a zombie. His set was the last one throughout the haunt which was a zombie village. His favorite part about scaring would be “the feeling of scaring people to the point where they pee their pants, but also just scaring random people with friends.” His least favorite part of the haunt would be “waiting for every ten to twenty minutes until a section of a guided tour came through.” Her would do it again because he states “everything about the haunt was fun and new experience for me and I really enjoyed it with my friends.” To scare people, Her would “start crawling and try to grab them.” Anthony had volunteered once at Dreadwood and he had a great time.

The final person to tell me about their Dreadwood experience was Sami Bonn. Bonn’s character was a scary hillbilly lady at the cages set. Sami’s favorite part about scaring would be “seeing the reaction on people’s faces when you scared them.” Sami’s least favorite part about the haunt would be how long it was and “didn’t get home until around 2:30 in the morning!” Bonn would do it again because she says “it was a ton of fun and it’s a great way to spend your night with friends.” When it comes to scaring, Bonn did two things. “My friend Emily and I switched off.” They would switch between back bending (going into a bridge formation and walking) and for the other half she would sit on top of a cage and do strange things. Sami volunteered at the haunt once this year and plans to do it again next year as a senior.
